From Clear Creek we made our way to
Lamberts Mine... up and over Mount Phillips.
As the sign says, 11, 711 feet at the top. When I told the crew that
there was a 7-11 at the top, no one believed me.
The trek was a bit arduous, but we all made it without too much mishap.
Almost all agreed that the hike was a growth personal experience.
The crew did all the things that you can do on the top: panorama shots,
emulating Iwo Jima, hanging boxers from the pole (yay Deepster, you go
girl!), and sundry "Gee its great to have summited" shots.

Well, we couldn't put it off any longer. If we were not in
shape, we would find out shortly. |

Mount Phillips.
Well, we did make it after a scramble and a huff. According to
Michael, we spent one fifth of our time resting and the other
four fifths hiking. In retrospect it didn't seem too long.
I of course was last because, er, I had to be last, I was
sweeper (traditionally a strong hiker with good eyes and back).
Believe that?. |

Wouldn't you know it. Look who was up there when we got
there! Those Minnesota guys again. Every time we turned around,
there they were. Picture is a little dim, but the smiles are as
bright as the sun! |

Practice Iwo Jima shot. |
|

This is the Iwo Jima shot. After we took this
picture, I realized that we had it backwards. So I had Crew
566 move the pole and run around to the other side to make it
more authentic... |

... there! This is more like it! |

Great summit shot. |
